The author is an early stage investor who has started the Unicorn India ventures. This book is mainly about startups which have received funding and coverage in the mainstream media and some failures. It is also about the returns which the investors are looking for.The author has interviewed a large number of entrepreneurs in India, some well known names like the Redbus founder, Phaneesh Murthy, Anand Deshpande of Persistent Systems
However, he does not write about some of the other problems some small business owners, especially in the tech and internet sector face like some of the most terrible human rights abuses, cybercrime, identity theft, hacking, data theft

Though the indian mainstream media led by times of india extensively covered the great success of the US vice president Kamala Harris, highlighting her indian origin repeatedly, they conveniently ignore the real reason why she is successful, that she has listened to those who are powerless, and tried to get justice for them.
Though those who are powerless like the domain investor, an older single woman, legally owning the website and who is victim of a Rs 15 lakh annual financial fraud since 2010 by government agencies (who falsely claim that this and other websites in the network belong to lazy greedy fraud raw/cbi employees like robber riddhi nayak caro, goan bhandari sunaina chodan, nayanshree hathwar, asmita patel,sindhi scammer school dropout naina chandan, her lazy fraud sons karan, nikhil, who do not spend any money on domains) do not get coverage in the mainstream media, or help from government officials, they constitute a large section of the population. One of the reasons why she is popular, is because she is willing to listen to people who will otherwise not get any kind of help like poor mainly black people, from poorer neighborhoods in california. It also provides insight on the life of a politician, the effort required and support system.
The book traces the life of Kamala Harris from her childhood to her career in the Senate when the book was written. Indian society is very male dominated, and the status of women, especially single older educated women like the domain investor is worsening rapidly, especially in panaji, goa in the last decade. So though it is not explicitly mentioned, it is remarkable how Shyamala Gopalan bought up both her daughters up alone after her divorce, and how she also had a very successful career as a cancer researcher.
Specifically information on the legal career of Kamala Harris is interesting highlighting the differences in the legal system. While in india most court officials, are appointed, in USA the district attorney is elected, so they can be held accountable. Kamala Harris was helped in her career by her mentors, and she has also mentored a large number of young woman to follow her footsteps. She is part of the legal system, and used it to make a difference to the life of others.
This willingness to help people in their quest for justice, is in contrast to the terrible conditions in India where even a seven time Lok sabha MP Mohan Delkar finds it difficult to get justice.
