While visiting a supermarket in the morning, she is shocked to spot her married friend trisha with a man in a checked shirt who is not her husband. They appear to be very friendly
Trisha is married to Nakul, who is a business partner of Natasha’s husband varun running an architectural firm. When questioned Trisha admits that she is having an affair with Guneet, her boyfriend from vasant kunj in delhi.He is an exporter and met trisha in an Istanbul coffee ship. Though she has twin children, Trisha claims that the marriage was over in two years, she does not enjoy spending time with Nakul.
Trisha requests natasha not to reveal the details of her affair to her husband Nakul, though she is meeting Guneet regularly in Mumbai. Though natasha feels guilty she agrees to help her friend trisha to maintain the relationship. When natasha goes to meet her lover Guneet, she lies to her husband and family members that she is going to meet her friend natasha
When Trisha and natasha are questioned by their spouses on why they are spending so much time together, they claim that they are planning a birthday party for varun. A grand birthday party is organized, where trisha, natasha, their parents, mother in laws, relatives and friends are invited and come to the party. Though natasha does not want guneet to come to the party, trisha is infatuated with him and he comes to the party.
The party is in full swing, when natasha is called by her husband to the study. There she finds her mother in law and nakul’s mother Bela. Natasha’s mother in law had forgotten her mobile phone in the study,so she had left the party and gone to the study to retrieve the mobile phone. When she was there, trisha and guneet entered the room and starting kissing each other passionately, which natasha’s mother in law recorded on her phone as proof, so that people would not question her account of the affair.
When natasha is questioned she initially denies knowing guneet but her husband observing her closely notices her interaction with guneet and realizes that she lying to him. The stress of the lies being exposed, makes natasha faint at the party. Her husband is furious that he was lied to. The affair shocks people in the social circles and Trisha who is from delhi leaves her husband Nakul and his posh house, to move into a small flat with her lover guneet.
How hiding the affair affects the relationship, her career and other details form the rest of the book. It has an entertaining account of high class society, families who have their own house, garden, maidservants, cooks and drivers. The lakshwadeep adventure is the story of young friends Faisal, Aditya, Vikram who are visiting lakshwadeep islands on a holiday. Aditya’s s father is a helicopter pilot and Aditya invited his friends on a holiday.
They enjoy the holiday,windsurfing and doing other activities, though they are lucky to evade being attacked by sharks. Later the friends plan to visit the neighboring Pitti island and prepare their boat Alisha for the trip with their island friend shaukat
Suddenly there is a massive storm in the area, and the boat Alisha sinks due to a hole in the boat. The friends manage to escape to the island alive, and are marooned on the island. They retrieve some supplies from their boat,which has sunk to the bottom of the sea. Till someone comes to rescue them, the friends do not have any alternative but to wait.
They spend time watching the flora and fauna on the island, especially the turtles which come to lay their eggs. While Shaukat uses his skills to catch fish and eat coconut, their fresh water supplies are getting depleted, due to which Vikram decides to surf to the neigboring island Tinakara. After he lands there, he notices that militants are visiting the island. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
While people enjoying going on a holiday, there are also many risks involved, especially for holidaying on remote islands. The book provides information on aquatic ecosystem, the fish, corals, and the damage which the corals can cause.

Binya was a ten year old village girl living with her mother and elder brother Bijju. She spend her time looking after her two cows Neelu and Gori and growing some crops. One day some people from the plains came to the forested glade near the village for a picnic. When one of the women in the group saw the leopard claw necklace around Binya’s neck, she wanted it and offered some money. Binya did not want money, she wanted the beautiful blue silk umbrella which the woman carried with her. Initially the woman refused, yet since she wanted the necklace badly, she agreed to give the umbrella to Binya
Binya was very happy to have the umbrella and carried it with her, wherever she went. The local shopkeeper Ram Bharosa liked the umbrella and wanted to purchase it, offering twelve rupees. Binya refused since she liked it a lot. She always carried the umbrella with her, and it was used to defend her against a cobra attack. Everyone admired the blue umbrella, the children expressing their admiration for the beautiful umbrella openly.
Ram bharosa hired a boy Rajaram to help him with the shop work, and Rajaram noticed that Ram bharosa became upset whenever Binya passed the shop with her blue umbrella. When Rajaram found out the reason, he offered to steal the umbrella, yet was foiled from doing so by Binya’s brother Bijju. News of how Ram Bharosa had asked rajaram to rob the umbrella spread in the village, and it adversely affected the reputation of Ram Bharosa, people stopped visiting his shop.
Binya noticed the decline in Ram Bharosa’s sales due to the attempted robbery and felt guilty. She left the umbrella in Ram bharosa’s shop, telling him that she did not require it. Margayya was the hardworking financial expert in Malgudi and surrounding areas, helping his customers mainly from rural areas who had financial problems find a solution. Margayya initially transacted with his clients who were mostly villagers, functioning under the shade of a banyan tree located close to the local co-operative bank.
He is asked by the bank staff to leave the location and while he tries to find a solution, he meets Dr Pal, a sociologist and journalist who gives him the rights to the book `Domestic Harmony` which provides tips for a happy married life to married couples. When Margayya takes the book to the local printer, the printer is very happy with the content of the book and offers Margayya a partnership deal which makes him reasonably wealthy.
Later the printer, wishes to buyout Margayyas share of the book, and gives him a lumpsum. Margayya resumes his financial services, with a better office and more staff. During the war he realizes that people have more money, and recruits Dr Pal to collect deposits from his large network. The deposit money is then deployed to further increase the profits of Margayya.
Margayya has a son Balu, who is not interested in studies and fails the matriculate exams despite Margayyas attempts to get him the best teachers. Balu then leaves home, and Margayya receives a letter stating that Balu has died. Luckily when Margayya visits madras to verify the news, he meets a police inspector who tells him that the letter may be fake and helps him to trace Balu.
Margayya then takes Balu home and gets him married to a beautiful girl Brinda after manipulating the horoscopes to match and gives them a house in Lawley extension. Balu still does not take interest in working yet demands a share of the ancestral property. Margayya who is self-made has nothing to offer. He later finds that his son is under the influence of Dr Pal.
One day Margayya visits the house of his son Balu, late at night at around 1 am and finds that his son is not at home. Brinda tells him that his son comes home very late at night around 2 am daily and Balu is spending a lot of time with Dr Pal who influences him. Just as Margayya is about to leave, Dr Pal reaches the home with Balu and two women who claim to be from the theater, who Margayya claims are whores.
Margayya is furious and unable to contain his fury, he removes his sandals and beats up Dr Pal on his face. Dr. Pal is upset files a police complaint and also instigates all the customers from whom he had collected deposits to withdraw their money from Margayya, questioning his mental health. In a short period, Margayya loses all the wealth he had acquired due to the allegations of Dr Pal who is well connected and interacts with a large number of people. The house of Balu is also attached and returns to live with his father and mother.

Often people take impulsive decisions especially in government organizations because they are not sure or they do not have adequate information. A lot of time and resources are wasted based on these decisions. Later the decision makers may realize that they have made a mistake. However, most people have massive egos, especially powerful government employees and refuse to admit and correct their mistake, though it causes a lot of problems and waste of taxpayer money for many years.
Alehya Mehta has just left her time consuming and tedious job. She was enjoying her farewell party in office, when she gets a phone call from her best friend Shagun, who tells her than she is getting married next month, and invites her to Chandigarh for a holiday before the wedding. Alehya would spend her summer holidays with Shagun and her family since her mother had expired. Alehya does not hear the name of the groom property because of the party noise, later she finds that the groom is another childhood friend Vicky, with whom she did not get along well when they were younger and they last met.
Though initially Alehya and Vicky continue to argue with each other, later they find that they are attracted to each other. However Shagun is filled with guilt for feeling attracted towards Vicky, her best friends future groom. How the matter resolves forms the rest of the story.
The book provides a glimpse of daily life for upper class and upper middle class society in chandigarh, how marriages are fixed and the preparation for the marriage. The book is the story of a 22-year-old young woman parvati , abbreviated as paro, who comes to mumbai from a small town amaravati, searching for work. She falls in love with karan, a cinematographer who she meets while working and they have an affair. When parvati finds she is pregnant after a few months, she expects karan to marry her. Instead karan refuses to marry her, and tells her to get an abortion,since it was just a short-term affair for him,
Parvati is very upset at the end of the affair, and finds that her boss at work wants to take her out for dinner. when she agrees she finds that he is also lusting after her, and he makes a pass at her. since parvati is not interested, she wards off his advances with great difficulty, yet she is traumatised by the incident and leaves her job.
Since she has to pay the room rent and has other expenses, parvati takes up a new job as a set designer in a film production company. She adjusts to the new job, and finds that the side hero of the movie, rahul is interested in her. However paro finds it difficult to get over the breakup with karan, and what happens next forms the rest of the story. The Malhotra Bride is one of the cheaper books which was available at the local second hand book store. It is a typical indian romance story. Sunita is the daughter of a rich and reputed industrialist family, like most other heroines, she is beautiful with grey green eyes. In most Indian families, parents feel that getting their daughters married off, is a major responsibility and her parents want to fix her marriage with a groom from another reputed and wealthy Punjabi family
The groom Akshay is the only son of a rich Punjabi family. Though Sunita initially does not agree to the marriage, since she is only twenty years old, she later agrees to the marriage, The rest of story is about the elaborate engagement and wedding ceremony. The book has very detailed descriptions of the clothes and functions which are conducted
Additionally the book also covers the problem of extortion which rich families and business owners face from the underworld and gangsters. The rich businessmen often receive threats from the underworld. If they pay up, the gangsters or rival gangs may ask them for additional money, causing losses. Though the businessmen can refuse to pay up,the gangsters may shoot them causing injuries or in some cases death. Additionally the shooting is widely covered in the media.
