The book begins with Joseph calling his girlfriend in Delhi,Uma to wish her on her birthday
Instead of being happy at his greetings, Uma tells that she wishes to leave him since they are living apart for a few years,she has found another boyfriend Tonmoy and is planning to relocate to Mumbai. To fund the relocation she also sells Joseph’s bike which he left with her in Delhi for a very low price of Rs 8000 and promises to return the money.
Initially Joseph is very upset and is moping about the breakup,over time he gets over it, and improves his finances taking tuitions for students and doing everything which is in demand. He also tries to find a new girlfriend, airing a song on the radio station about the girl he briefly met at the bus stop.
After a long search, he meets Aastha Mishra, who is also a singer. Since has a terminal illness, she wishes to meet a popular model and actor Arjun Pathania in Mumbai,who she is a fan of. So Joseph visits Mumbai with Aastha and stays at the house of her friend Nadia. Here Joseph again meets Tonmoy who stole his girlfriend Uma.
Tonmoy informs him that uma has left him and is now having an affair with her boss to get promotions and boost her career.This shows that the casting couch is rampant in india, yet when the reviewer discusses it in the blog network she is facing harassment. The book starts in August 1996 with Serena Kumar, a banker who is in Singapore, being contacted by the police inspector Michael D’cunha regarding a fire in her apartment, A man is found dead and he is identified as an MBA from Faculty of management studies ( FMS) , Delhi , Raaj Kumar who is running a financial advisory firm in Worli, Mumbai. Serena Kumar informs the police that her husband was her classmate in FMS, they met in college and married later. Since the husband had named his wife the beneficiary of the insurance policy, the police start investigating to check if was a suicide or accident with Serena Kumar, and her model friend Kim being the main suspects.
After the police inspector starts suspecting Kim, she asks her client, Adi who is lusting after her, to use his influence with local politicians to close the case, so that she does not face any harassment. To prevent his career being adversely affected, the police inspector Michael D’cunha closes the case.

He is also surprised that Raaj Kumar is officially declared dead, since he is confident that he met Raaj Kumar at Frankfurt airport in 1998. So he realizes that Raaj Kumar may have faked his death to escape being caught and punished for the duplicate share certificate and has stolen the identity of some other person. How Raaj Kumar faked his death and got away with it for more than 5 years forms the rest of the story.
Since Serena was lusting for Raaj Kumar, he took the only available flight to meet her in Dubai, which halted in Frankfurt and led to a brief interaction with Singh, which ultimately exposed the fraud . Similarly since the reviewer has not written a sentence in Hindi for more than 30 years, her writing speed is very less, and so the review is written in English.
The book is loosely based on the security breach when gelatin sticks in a car were found outside Atlanta, the home of Mukesh Ambani who was then the richest man in India. The incident was widely covered in the mainstream media, and this book recollects the incident with the names of the characters changed to avoid legal problems or defamation. While the real life incident is not resolved till date, in the book, the author has his own theory of who did it and how it was done.
The book starts with TV coverage of the discovery of gelatin sticks outside the house of kuberiya, richest man in india and asia. The house is located in a posh area of Mumbai, Peddar Road, close to the beach. The security incharge is a retired R&AW employee Aman Chaudhary
The various security agencies including police, ATs, NIA swing into action to find out who was responsible. The ownership of the car is traced to a car dealer Hasmukh who is later found dead. Yatin Sathe, assistant police inspector in the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai police, is arrested . This character is loosely based on the Sachin Vaze, the API in the CIU who was linked with the gelatin sticks. Just like Sachin Vaze was allegedly reporting to Parambir Singh, who was then mumbai commissioner of police , Yatin Sathe is working closely with Mahavir Tomar, the Mumbai CP
Like in the real life incident, Mahavir Tomar is also transferred to a department which is of no consequence after the incident, holding him responsible. The character of retired inspector Dilip Verma is based on Encounter specialist Pradip Sharma who is also closely working with Sathe. For eliminating the underworld from Mumbai through encounters, Dilip Verma was made the CIU incharge after it was formed. NIA also arrests Dilip Verma from Lonavla where he has gone on a holiday. How the mastermind of the plot is traced, his motivation forms the rest of the story. Due to the corruption in the CIU, the author has abbreviated the book name as Criminals in Uniform
This book explains the functioning of the security agencies, specifically mentioning that while in other states, the Director General of police is the top post, in Maharashtra the Mumbai CP position is the most prestigious. Though the book shows the NIA as a very efficient agency compared to the police, some harmless private citizens especially in the internet sector, are finding that they are cheated, exploited, and their retirement savings are stolen by government agencies allegedly NIA without a court order causing great financial hardship
There are almost no well written English books on the function of the security agencies in india. This is well written book, recommended for those who wish to understand how the security agencies, especially the police work, the connection between police, media and business.

Often people spend a lot of time and money on their favorite passion or interest and finally find that no one is interested
Behram’s boat is the story of a retired Parsi insurance agent, Behram Rustomjee whose wife died several years ago.
After his retirement, he has plenty of free time, and he becomes an alcoholic drinking excessively, causing problems for himself and his married daughter Persis.
Tired of cleaning up the mess her father creates due to his alcoholism, Persis gets her father admitted to a sanatorium, so that he gives up his drinking habit.
Due to the noise which children in the vicinity create, Behram is not able to sleep well, so he goes out to shout at children. Upset at his sleep being disturbed he also destroys the paper boats of the children who are lead by Pesi. In the verbal argument that ensues, the young boy taunts Behram on what he has achieved till date.
The Parsi newspaper is owned by Dorabjee and Behram’s daughter works Persis there. Dorabjee publishes an article on the declining Parsi population which was 75000 and will decline further. This gives Behram the idea of having a boat in which the young Parsi people will travel to Iran where the Parsis came from and hopefully they will meet fall in love with each other, marry and have more Parsi children to increase the Parsi population.
Though he initially rejects the idea, Dorabjee realizes that the idea has potential to boost the newspaper circulation. So he decides to go ahead in building the boat in Salaya, Gujarat, with the help of donations from the parsi community and others. Behram is so obsessed with the idea that he gives up on alcohol and works on the boat himself, living in salaya himself. What ultimately happens after the boat is built forms the rest of the story.

The book Hooligan turned Holy man is the story of Sangli baba, who is becoming increasingly popular in the area where he resides, having a large number of followers. Sindu is a journalist with a newspaper who is assigned to interview Sangli baba and find the reasons for his popularity. She goes to the address she is given and locates the house. She finds that he is living in a old small house with his wife.
Sangli baba tells the story of his life, that when he was young, he was involved in illegal activities, theft, extortion and similar criminal activities for ten years. However, when he took a supari to murder an old man, he was filled with remorse, so he surrendered and was imprisoned for ten years. However, due to good behavior he was released after seven years, and then he wandered all over india for self discovery. He met some naga sadhus who explained the right way to deal with all the problems people faced, using their experience. So he returned to his home town and took up a job in a garment factory.
He then used the sutras he learned from the Naga sadhus to deal with problems and help others who are also facing similar problems. He then describes the different sutras which can help a person deal with their difficulties better.
The book is divided into various chapters like Impossible is possible, living with anger, peace is internal, change your perspective, enjoy the culinary delights, live the stages of your life well.

Due to the large number of websites, many people are working as content writers, and the book, There’s something about you, is about the life of a young woman trishna saxena working as content writer in a company. All of a sudden, after working in the company for seven years, she is told to leave the company and is offered the option to leave immediately with one month salary or work for another month and get two months salary.
The internet portal she is working for has decided to upgrade the website, and using fresh, younger people for creating content, so they decide to ask trishna to leave. This is a shock for her, since she did not expect it and she is the sole breadwinner for her family which consists of her aged father and mother. Though she tries to get another job, she is not successful. An ex-colleague from the company she has worked for, offers some freelance work, answering questions from people looking for help, basically being the agony aunt.
Her replies are very popular, but the print edition wants to keep the identity of the person replying secret, so that the editor can falsely take credit. While Trishna agrees initially, since the money offered is very good, after sometime she feels frustrated, since she realizes that she will not be able to show the work she does in her resume, so she leaves the job.
The main protagonist is living in a rented flat in bandra and this book reflects the problems of those who do not have a regular source of income to cover their daily expenses, especially if they are taking care of their aged parents, whose expenses are higher. Rahul Tiwari is an india living in London, who is a part time musician. To escape the cold weather in London, he takes a break from his job and visits Kerala to learn the mridangam, a musical instrument in 1996. His music teacher Panicker also arranges for a house on rent. The area is quite deserted, his only neighbour is beautiful woman Maya, who is living with her daughter Anjali and husband Govind Warrier, who is older to her, and owns a business Warrier Pumnps. Due to the nature of the business, Warrier is away from home often, and is very suspicious about what his beautiful wife is doing when he is away.
Though she lives in a large well maintained house with all amenities, Maya is bored and wishes to escape, become financial independent. Her husband is very suspicious and shouts at her if she is looking at another person. Despite this Maya invites Rahul Tiwari to her house when her husband is away. After he does not hear from her, Tiwari visits Maya. While he is leaving, Warrier notices him , shouts at Maya and threats to destroy her face. Terrified Maya goes to Tiwari for help, so he books tickets for delhi, for himself, Maya and her daughter. After spending some time in Delhi, with his aged parents who have a house there, he returns to London.
The next part of the story begins in 1999, three years later, after Maya dies in a car accident in London. Since Warrier has refused to give Maya a divorce, Tiwari cannot get legal custody of Anjali, who is very young, approximately 5 years old. So the social service, decide that the biological father Govind Warier will get custody of Anjali, she will spend her time with him. Rahul Tiwari is devastated, he first loses Maya, and then her daughter anjali who called him papa. He visits India again to meet maya’s mother, and she tells him the rest of the story, and says that she will ensure that anjali remains in touch with him.
