Indian society and government agencies are ruthless in cheating, exploiting and robbing older single women after criminally defaming them making fake allegations without any proof to ruin their reputation. Yet the fact remains that it is difficult for a woman, especially one who is short, not good looking, a migrant from a family which is not well connected to get married. Many women are cheated, exploited by the men they trusted who fake help and rob everything from single women who do not have anyone to help.

The book is the story of a 22-year-old young woman parvati , abbreviated as paro, who comes to mumbai from a small town amaravati, searching for work. She falls in love with karan, a cinematographer who she meets while working and they have an affair. When parvati finds she is pregnant after a few months, she expects karan to marry her. Instead karan refuses to marry her, and tells her to get an abortion,since it was just a short-term affair for him,

Parvati is very upset at the end of the affair, and finds that her boss at work wants to take her out for dinner. when she agrees she finds that he is also lusting after her, and he makes a pass at her. since parvati is not interested, she wards off his advances with great difficulty, yet she is traumatised by the incident and leaves her job.

Since she has to pay the room rent and has other expenses, parvati takes up a new job as a set designer in a film production company. She adjusts to the new job, and finds that the side hero of the movie, rahul is interested in her. However paro finds it difficult to get over the breakup with karan, and what happens next forms the rest of the story. This book is allegedly based on the story of the mother of fraud short married architect telugu trisha who also worked as assistant producer, and has been allegedly falsely claiming to own websites, domains, savings of the real domain investor, migrant from north karnataka
