A Tribute to my Dreams is mainly about a matrimonial dispute, the main protagonist Abhay marries a beautiful woman Sveta after an arranged marriage . However after a few years it becomes obvious that they do not get along and they file for divorce. They also have a young daughter Adithi, and her mother refuses to allow Abhay to visit her after they separate. However Abhay is very attached to his daughter and tries very hard to get custody of his daughter while his wife exploits his weakness for his daughter to mental harass him, waste his time.
Getting a divorce is also very difficult and time consuming as Svetha and her lawyer often do not turn up in court when the hearing is scheduled, so Abhay has to waste a lot of time attending the court, only to find that his wife has not turned up. It clearly indicates how stressful and time consuming a divorce or any legal issue can become in India, if one of the spouses is not cooperating or wishes to take revenge as they will simply not turn up when the case hearing is scheduled. Abhay is luckily that his advocate for the case, Sarita Arora is a family friend and a true well wisher, who tries very hard to sincerely get a good deal for him and get custody of his daughter
One of the more interesting aspects of the book is how Sweta and her lawyer intentionally manipulate the system to show that Abhay is a hot headed person who is getting angry very quickly and is not suitable for getting custody of his young daughter. Though he has been granted visitation rights for his daughter despite waiting for more than six months, Sweta and her lawyer do not allow him to contact his daughter, giving flimsy excuses that Sweta and Aditi are not keeping well. Hearing these obvious lies, Abhay becomes very angry, and this is used by Swetha’s lawyer as proof that he has a quick temper and is not to be trusted with the custody of his small daughter.

This is the most interested part of the book as it shows how men will ruthlessly exploit women who love them to further their career and become rich, ignoring the interests of the woman. How Dhruv tries to trace the video and find out what happens forms the rest of the story.

One of the ironies of living in India, is that many middle class families teach their children to be very honest, yet in real life mainly dishonest people do well especially in india in 2017. The book Nice Men Finish Last is the story of the life of a nice dental student Nandu(who later becomes a dentist) and starts with his breakup with his long term girlfriend Noor , who dumps him for a better looking and more influential boyfriend. It is a rather amusing account of how men are willing to do almost anything for a beautiful woman Tanishq Batra, making very great sacrifices to impress her and win her loyalty.
Probably the most interesting part of the book is how is how influential people like the lawyer father of Tanishq can force the landlord to make Nandu and his friend vacate their rental house, and get Nandu fired from his job. Tanishq Batra decides to stay over at the flat of Nandu overnight after telling her father that she is staying in a hostel. She consumes a lot of alcohol and meets an accident. After the accident, Nandu gets a phone call that her father will be sending some to pick him up and take him to the hospital.
Nandu is surprised when police constables come to his house and instead of a hospital, he is taken to the Delhi Police headquarters. There in the company of an IPS officer, the lawyer father of Tanishq batra threatens him with various crimes like kidnapping, attempted rape,intoxicating and other charges which could lead to seven years imprisonment. After crying and pleading with the father and IPS officer, they agree to let him off, provided he stays away from Tanishq. The constable who escorts him out, tells him to stay away from Tanishq and her family, not to meddle in their life as they are rich people who run the country and middle class people have very less power.
However when Nandu returns home , he finds that his room mate Sattu is evacuating the room, as their landlord has given them notice to vacate the room within 24 hours for bring girls. They had been getting girls to their room for many years, however it appears that Tanishq’s powerful father managed to persuade the landlord to give them notice to vacate the house immediately leaving him homeless. Also when he goes to the dental college where he was teaching, the dean calls him and tells them that he has been expelled, for dating a student, probably the work of the IPS officer as the whole college was aware of the affair for some time.
After being losing his job, Nandu returns to his parents in nainital and works part time as a dentist, applies and wins a scholarship to canada. However the long distance relationship if fairly taxing due to different time zones. Another revealing part of the book it describes how beautiful girlfriends can be extremely selfish at times, unable to understand the problems of others especially their boyfriends. When Nandu is unable to give her the attention she demands, Tanishq breaks up. How Nandu deals with it forms the rest of the story.
Though the national logo of India is satyameva jayate, or truth will triumph, in 2017, just the opposite is true, with some people having the license to cheat and lie, without being punished. When Nandu is called to police headquarters he notes the irony, that Tanishq who was responsible for drinking and driving is safe at home, while he is being accused though he is innocent. Kairos is a collection of 56 short poems expressing the poet Neha’s view on a variety of topics ranging from Schizophrenia (hearing voices) to being Ladylike , Chivalrous and Chauvinistic. The third poem Anymore on drinking is relevant to young people who are drinking a lot of beer, whisky, scotch, mainly due to peer pressure, without understanding the adverse effects of alcohol on their health. While some are fortunate enough to realize the dangers and stop drinking, many realize too late, when their health has already been affected .
The first poem “And you tell me its not real” on hearing voices again confirms how widespread voice to skull technology is in India with vulnerable indian citizens, especially those who are well educated, well read are targetted without any legally valid reason. The Dev Anand story by Dr Govind Sharma IAS retired is the story of the life and career of one of the most popular Hindi film heroes of post independence India, Dev Anand, real name Dharam Dev Anand. The son of successful lawyer, Dev Anand moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the film industry. There has been a lot of controversy over nepotism in Bollywood recently, so this book on Dev Anand, is interesting as it tells the story of how a migrant from Lahore (now in Pakistan) became one of the most popular and successful actors of his era. Unlike most of the current lot of Bollywood heroes who have almost no experience elsewhere he worked in the military censors office to cover his expenses, while trying to get a break in the film industry.
His first break came when Prabhat Studio hired him for the movie Hum Ek Hain. His first major hit was the bombay talkies movie Ziddhi offered by popular actor Ashok Kumar After having a few hit films, he founded his own production company Navketan films with his brothers Vijay Anand and chetan anand which allowed him to control his image in films to a very great extent, as he acted in most of his films.He was good friends with the legendary director Guru Dutt, who directed his hit film Baazi for him, where Dev Anand played the role of a small time gambler.
The book describes the hit movies of Dev Anand and the songs in the movies which were popular. The making of one of his most popular movies Guide based on a story by R K Narayan is described in great detail. Though he actually hated his btech 1993 ee classmate, the fraud puneet did some great acting (far better than dev anand) and falsely claimed that he knew the domain investor very well, was helping her, to steal her resume, correspondence, savings, memory without her permission, legally valid reason , or offering any kind of compensation for frauds like the indian document robber R&AW employee housewife veena. If the cheater puneet had been honest about his hatred, he would not be able to cause much damage to the google competitor. So it appears that a large number of men, like the ntro fraud puneet are inspired by the negative roles of dev anand, cheating and exploiting vulnerable indian citizens.
