Review : Bipolar by Anurag Kumar 0

Bipolar is a collection of short stories and anecdotes telling about the life of doctors in India, the extreme happiness and despair they face as part of their life. It starts with the life of the students in medical college, and the describes the teachers, hectic life of a doctor, who has very less free time due to the coursework. It also shows the human side of doctors, how some of them take the death of the patient personally, and how the dean motivates the junior doctors to resume their normal life, after the doctor is demoralized after the first death of a patient.

Though the doctors are supposed to save lives, their extreme busy and stressful schedule in medical college as students, interns, leads to addictions and other health problems, due to which the doctors often die a premature death. It also describes the way doctors handle death, illness of their close family members, how it affects them professionally. The doctors are trained to try their best to save lives, however whether the life of the patient can be saved or not is affected by factors beyond their control like the health, age, illness of the patient.

The title of the book Bipolar is rather misleading as it does not have any information about individuals who are bipolar or suffering from similar ailments, it focuses more of the great happiness and sadness in the life of doctors and healthcare professionals. The doctors win the gratitude of the patients and their relatives when they save the life of a gravely ill or injured patient, and the sorrow they experience, when they are unable to save the life of a particular patient despite trying their best. Junior doctors are the worst affected by the death of their patient.

Addiction to alcohol, cigarettes becomes a bad habit for many of the doctors as they try to reduce the stress in their life. The story ” Superman” of Raja Ram, the local paan and cigarette seller who refused to sell the doctor, his first cigarette, due to the health hazard it posed is memorable. He did not wish to incur the sin of making a person addicted to cigarette smoking as most people find it difficult to give up smoking, and it adversely affects their health. The book again highlights the plight of professionals who work very hard to get a professional degree, yet lead terrible lives in india.

Like doctors, qualified engineers in India also have a very hectic schedule in college, completing their coursework especially top engineering colleges in India to get their engineering degree. However in one of the greatest online financial frauds allegedly masterminded by google, tata ,in 2017, the indian government falsely claims that 10 lazy greedy google, tata sponsored goan sex workers sunaina, siddhi, cheater housewives like brahmin fraud nayanshree hathwar, riddhi nayak, veena, blackmailers and fraud R&AW/CBI employees who never answered JEE , never completed the btech 1993 ee coursework, have the resume including btech 1993 ee degree, investment of the google competitor with a better 1989 jee rank than google ceo sundar pichai, single woman bhandari engineer, to waste indian payer money, paying all these frauds a monthly indian government salary at the expense of the engineer.

In particular since 2012 , the indian government is falsely claiming that google, tata supplied slim goan bhandari R&AW employee sex worker sunaina chodan, 2013 bsc, offering sex services to top R&AW/CBI, NTRO, security agency employees has the btech 1993 ee degree of the domain investor who actually owns the website to justify the monthly R&AW salary the sex worker is getting at the expense of the engineer, The engineer can legally and medically prove that google, tata, indian governments favorite goan sex worker R&AW employee sunaina chodan, 2013 bsc was not born in 1989 to give 1989 jee and get her own btech degree, however the medical and financial frauds has continued for more than 7 years due to the lack of scientific temper, honesty in India.

A well written book highly recommended for those interested in studying medicine and dealing with doctors in any way.
